Registration is now open (hooray!).  We apologise that this has taken so long, and kudos to Jacoba, who has managed to get it all in place even though she didn't have an office!

The registration fee covers:

- The special session 'SPQR: Cultural Dimensions of Authority in Republican Rome' on Tuesday 31 January (details here)

- The opening reception on Tuesday evening

- The ASCS conference proper on Wednesday 1 February to Friday 3 February

- Lunch (yes, really!), morning tea, afternoon coffee, conference pack

Registration costs are below.  Please note: fees will be charged in New Zealand dollars (NZD).  Prices in Australian dollars (AUD) are approximate, for information only.

Standard fee: Early bird (until 15 December; see notes below): NZD 250 (AUD 235)

Standard fee: after 15 December: NZD 300 (AUD 280)

Daily rate: NZD 150 (AUD 140) - use the code DAY

Concession (students, retirees, unwaged): NZD 150 (AUD 140) - use the code CON

Concession daily rate: NZD 65 (AUD 60) - use the code DAYCON

Please note the following when you register:

- If you are using the daily rate or the concession or both, you will need to use the codes above and enter them on the second page of the form (at the bottom, in the box marked 'Promotional code'). The form will assume you're on the standard rate unless told otherwise.

- The form will automatically give you the early bird rate until midnight 15 Dec New Zealand time; that's 10pm in Sydney, 10am in London, and 3am in Los Angeles.  Please bear in mind that we are ahead of you all and don't leave your booking until the last minute!

- We're doing the registration through Victoria's Continuing Education Centre, which means there are a few things that aren't relevant to us but we can't get rid of them.  On the first page, you'll need to put something in the 'referred by' box; I'm going with 'Word of mouth'! Ignore the tickbox below it; the monthly newsletter has nothing to do with ASCS.  And on the second page, any of you who actually read the terms and conditions will quickly realise they have nothing to do with ASCS either.  Any questions, please don't hesitate to email me!

Having read all of that, please click here to register.

Please note that there is an ASCS Postgraduate Travel Subsidy to assist with the costs of travelling to and from Wellington.  In order to apply, please return this form to Kathryn Welch at secretary@ascs.org.au on or before 30 November 2016.

The ASCS anniversary volume:

Fifty Treasures: Classical Antiquities in Australian and New Zealand Universities

Edited by Ronald T. Ridley

2016 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Australian Society for Classical Studies, changed in 2003-4 to the Australasian Society for Classical Studies, when it amalgamated with New Zealand scholars and postgraduate students. This volume has been published to mark that occasion. It contains a catalogue of fifty of the finest and most significant artefacts, one for each year of the Society’s existence, in more than a dozen museums and collections of antiquities in the two countries.

The volume is available to those attending the conference at the special conference price of AUD 32.  Delegates will be able to pick up their copies at the conference.  More information can be found here on the ASCS website, and the book can be ordered here.

The conference dinner will be held in the gorgeous space at Te Marae in Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand (shown here on the right).  It will take place on Thursday 2 February at 7.30pm.  The dinner is (of course) optional and is not included in the conference fee; the cost will be NZD100.  Trust us, it will be worth it.

This includes a three-course meal (we'll be asking you later about your preferences and dietary restrictions) and wine (in limited quantities! there will also be an open bar).
